Pennsylvania Child Protective Laws and Clearances
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania passed the Child Protective Act that requires a PA Child Abuse History clearance and a PA State Police Criminal Records check for volunteers "acting in lieu of a parent" or having direct contact where they provide care, supervison, guidance or control of children or have routine interaction with children. Volunteers who have not lived in Pennsylvania for 10 years are also required to obtain an FBI Criminal Background check. For more information click on EPYSA Guidance and PA Guidance.
Every coach, administrator, board member, volunteer, adult involved in EPYSA MUST complete the EPYSA online Risk Managment form every year before they will become an approved member of EPYSA. This is required in addition to the clearances mentioned above. Without a completed, approved Risk Management an adult cannot be placed on an RG-1 form or Team Roster.
